Interim Organist – Dalton First United Methodist Church, Dalton, GA

This part-time job is perfect for someone who may be needing a supplemental church position, a student organist (college or above), or a semi-retired organist.

Interim Organist: Dalton First United Methodist Church, Dalton, GA

Planning and preparation of instrumental elements in worship services when requested by Director of music or Interim Pianist (Voluntary, Communion music, Invitation/Offertory, Recessional). Ably and responsively preparing and accompanying the congregational hymns, Gloria Patri and Doxology in worship services. Playing for the rehearsal and 11:00 am worship service each Sunday, with the addition of the 8:45 am worship service by request on special weeks in liturgical calendar.
Accompanying the chancel choir for occasional Wednesday evening rehearsal when needed for special Sunday worship and special event selections. Accompanying Chancel Choir and congregational hymns for special services, events and rehearsals (Holy week, Christmas programs, Christmas Eve, Fall concert). The Interim Organist will occasionally be asked to play for weddings or funerals. The fee the organist receives is given by the family and is separate from regular salary pay.

This position assumes 8 to 10 hours a week.

The salary range is $14,000 to $15,000 a year.
