The Episcopal Church of the Holy Cross, a multinational, multi-cultural suburban Atlanta church, is seeking a part time Organist & Music Director. This would require approximately 10 – 12 hours per week which includes weekly planning/administration and on-site personal practice time, choir practice, musical development and weekly conduct of worship services. Musical excellence is encouraged and expected. Sacred music of both traditional and current genres along with music that reflects the multi-cultural environment of the parish is encouraged.
Responsibilities include planning with the pastor and preparation of appropriate organ and choral music for two weekly Sunday morning services. Weekly meetings with the pastor and weekly choir practices are needed. The current church choir is a 20+ person, 4-part harmony, adult group. The launching of a youth choir is desired.
Requirements include proficiency in playing the piano and the organ, a custom-made, 3-manual, early 1990’s model Allen organ with full speaker complement. It is desired that the candidate has a Bachelor’s Degree in Music or related field plus 3 years of experience; or equivalent years of experience. The candidate should have supervisory skills and a collaborative approach to worship planning. Salary range of $20,000 – $25,000 is being offered depending on education, skills, and experience.
