The young South African trumpet sensation is a two-time winner of the Global Peace Song Award, adding to his storied reputation as a performer, composer, and arranger. Darren has forged a global reputation for his skills as a performer, composer, and arranger. His artistry and dedication to humanitarian causes garnered two (2018 and 2020) Global Peace Song Awards as well as a Georgia State University’s 40-Under-40 Influential and Innovative Award. His debut album, Imagine Nation, featuring, among others, vocalist Carmen Bradford, pianist Kenny Banks, Jr., and the recorded voice of Freedom Fighter Nelson Mandela, was released to worldwide acclaim. He had the honor of playing at the funeral of another of his country’s heroes, Archbishop Desmond Tutu. As he circles the globe as a sought-after headliner, Darren has performed at the Atlanta Jazz Festival and has toured with such notables as PJ Morton, Stefon Harris, and Marcus Gilmore. A Standard Bank Artist of the Year, he recently completed a three-month tour of Europe, India, and the U.S. that showcased many of his original works.
